The Peshitta-Greek New Testament Project
Here at AramaicNewTestament.Org, we are building a Greek New Testament text that is based upon the Aramaic text of the Peshitta. As the Peshitta New Testament is believed to be either the oldest translation of the Greek New Testament (i.e. the majority viewpoint) or the original text of the New Testament where the Greek New Testament is derived from (the minority viewpoint), we believe it would be beneficial to all Biblical scholars and students alike if we could have a complete Greek New Testament text that is based upon the text of the Peshitta for reference instead of the Greek New Testament text that is based upon methods of textual criticism applied by textual scholars to determine the original text of the Greek New Testament.
Currently, we have the Textus Receptus of the Greek New Testament below the text of the Peshitta. Later, we will replace the Greek text that doesn't match the reading of the Peshitta to match the reading found in the text of Peshitta. We will not make our own Greek translation as the reading of the Greek text has to be supported by the ancient manuscripts of the Greek New Testament in order for the changes to be made. If there is no support from the manuscripts, we will use textual criticism to determine the reading closest to the Peshitta text.
